If you ask The Rooks about the origin of their sound, chances are they’ll concoct a tale of Frank Ocean, J Dilla, and the Talking Heads getting drunk at a dive bar in the year 2023, while Justin Vernon waits in the car to drive everyone home. Push them to be a little more specific (and a little less confusing), and they’ll tell you that The Rooks are equal parts kick-back, head-knock, and get-down; the music you rock to at the party, and the perfect soundtrack for the ride home.

Balloon Ride Fantasy is a 6-piece indie electropop/fantasy rock band. The Pittsburgh, PA based band combines rich instrumentation, vocal harmonies and imaginative lyrics to create a colorful sonic escapade. Their songs range from upbeat and dance-floor-ready to moody, lovely and contemplative.

Marci Weinstein and Willem Ytsma interview one of our favorite bands, Morningsiders just before their second show at Lafayette College. Morningsiders is a NYC-based alt-folk group. Their songs pay homage to the aching entrance into adulthood and draw in listeners with their subtle vocal work, lyrical hooks, acoustic instrumentation, and pulsating percussion.
